We are a founding member of SPREP's Pacific Regional Invasive Species Management Support Service (PRISMSS), and lead the Protect Our Islands programme with the support of colleagues at SPC. Our role is to provide support to prevent the arrival, establishment and spread of invasive species, and to provide a liaison point to other experts.

Two main areas we focus on are enhancement of:
  1. Early Detection and Rapid Response capability throughout the Pacific - to prevent the establishment of populations of new invasive species.
  2. The clean boats, clean ports framework - actions around  the main international entry points to prevent establishment and stop the spread of invasive species within the country.

Until 2024 PRISMSS partners will be working on many initiatives with Republic of Marshall Islands, Niue, Tonga and Tuvalu through a Global Environment Facility funded regional invasives project  (GEF 6 RIP) implemented by UNEP and executed by SPREP.

PRISMSS partners are also implementing projects supported by other donors, including the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
