Early Detection and Rapid Response are key tools for limiting the establishment of invasive species, whether at national borders or at new islands or sites.

Building on our work developing the EDRR toolkit under the Protect our Islands programme, we are assisting SPREP to develop EDRR plans for Niue, RMI and Tonga. Tuvalu has already developed and endorsed their EDRR plan using this toolkit.

Often, developing plans takes a great deal of time, and the EDRR template and other tools help to expedite this process. 

Implementing effective EDRR is still a challenge we are working to overcome.​
