We were a founding member of SPREP's Pacific Regional Invasive Species Management Support Service (PRISMSS), and led the Protect Our Islands programme from 2019 to 2024. Protect our Islands supports preventing the arrival, establishment and spread of invasive species, and to provide a liaison point to other experts.

Two main areas Protect our Islands focus on are enhancement of:
  1. Early Detection and Rapid Response capability throughout the Pacific - to prevent the establishment of populations of new invasive species.
  2. Interisland biosecurity. Pacific Biosecurity developed the clean boats, clean ports framework - actions around  the main international entry points to prevent establishment and stop the spread of invasive species within the country or territory.

Until April 2024 Pacific Biosecurity worked with the Republic of Marshall Islands, Niue, Tonga and Tuvalu through a Global Environment Facility funded regional invasives project (GEF 6 RIP) implemented by UNEP and executed by SPREP.

PRISMSS partners are also implementing projects supported by other donors, including the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
